Andrea Atzori and Irina Albu have been instrumental in transforming Su Pallosu into a symbol of hope for these cats even in the face of numerous challenges they have faced in the course of their work.
The legal battle
Despite its achievements, the association faced a significant legal battle that put the colony itself at risk.
In 2019, a complaint was filed against the association by some local residents who claimed that the presence of the cat colony was causing hygiene and safety problems.
This situation generated heated debate in the community and threatened to undermine the work done up to that point.
The legal process has attracted media attention, leading to increased awareness regarding the plight of Su Pallosu’s cats.
Supporters from around the world have expressed solidarity with the association, affirming the importance of animal protection and criticizing opposing positions.
After months of tension and hearings, the court finally ruled in favor of the association, authorizing the continuation of care and treatment for the cats.
